Bulk Human Hair: Professional Sourcing and Manufacturing Guide

Bulk human hair begins with a written specification — processing history, measurable fields and intended construction — not with a marketing adjective on a bundle photograph.

Loose hair is comparable only when net weight, length, Ratio, Draw Class, colour evidence and processing history are named on the order.

Quick answer

Bulk human hair is loose real human hair without a finished attachment system such as tape, keratin tip, clip hardware or a completed weft. Buyers specify fibre identity, processing history, colour, length, net hair weight, Ratio inside 100 g, Draw Class, texture origin and intended construction — machine weft, tape, keratin, clip weft, wig cap or crochet unit.

“Bulk”, “raw”, “virgin”, “Remy” and “processed” are not interchangeable labels. Origin is not a complete quality grade. Approved sourcing may include Türkiye/Anatolia and Uzbekistan where documented. Sach & Vogue Hair manufactures extension formats in Türkiye; stock versus made-to-order status is confirmed at enquiry. This guide explains defensible bulk specification without publishing prices, MOQ or unverified stock claims.

What bulk human hair is

Bulk human hair is loose human hair sold by weight and specification rather than as a finished extension product. The fibre may arrive as a tied bundle or a sorted batch prepared for manufacturing under a written factory brief. The word “bulk” describes the supply form; it does not prove virgin status, Remy alignment, a particular origin or a universal quality tier.

Manufacturers and wholesale buyers use bulk hair as input material. A suitable bulk-hair specification can be prepared for machine weft, keratin-tipped strands, tape panels, clip wefts, women’s toppers or crochet units once sorting, Ratio, Draw Class, colour and intended construction have been agreed. HairExtensionsTR treats bulk preparation as part of made-to-order production in Türkiye when a construction is manufactured on site; the buyer still needs to provide a complete written specification rather than relying on a single adjective.

This page sits under the Hair Extensions authority architecture. It is not a Hair Intelligence essay; for fibre-quality literacy see The Truth About Human Hair Quality and Virgin Hair Versus Processed Hair.

Bulk hair versus finished hair extensions

Finished extensions carry attachment geometry: tape width, keratin tip shape, weft family, clip hardware or a completed crochet unit weight. Bulk hair carries none of that by default. Comparing a 100 g bulk offer with a 100 g tape pack without naming net hair weight, panel width and stitch path is a category error.

Finished SKUs embed manufacturing decisions — Draw Class for a weft row, bond weight for keratin, piece count for clip sets. Bulk purchases shift those decisions onto the buyer’s specification sheet.

When HairExtensionsTR manufactures a finished method, the route from bulk preparation to finished goods is documented on the relevant method guide, for example Machine Weft Hair, Tape-In Hair Extensions or Crochet Human Hair. Bulk conversation belongs upstream of those pages.

Who buys bulk human hair

Extension manufacturers, private-label brands, wholesale distributors and salon workshops order bulk when they can repeat the same Ratio, Draw Class and colour specification on reorder. Wig makers, topper makers and educators need the same traceability: batch identity, processing disclosure and sample approval. Bulk human hair may be offered as a loose-hair product for professional, wholesale and retail enquiries through the professionals hub; private-label eligibility, packaging and repeat-production conditions still require separate written confirmation.

Partner-sourced lace wigs and men’s hair systems are finished-goods catalogues, not automatic bulk programmes. Machine-made wigs and women’s toppers manufactured in Türkiye may use factory-prepared bulk when production is confirmed in writing.

Manufactured versus partner-sourced finished goods

Suitable bulk hair can be prepared for constructions manufactured by Sach & Vogue Hair in Türkiye, including: Machine Weft; approved Mesh Butterfly Weft and PU Butterfly Weft; Genius Weft where the SKU is confirmed in writing; Tape-In; keratin tips; Micro Capsule; Nanofilament; Clip-In; U-Clip / U-Part; ponytails and bangs; women’s toppers; and machine-made wigs. Each route still needs its own specification — bulk fields alone do not activate a SKU.

Front-lace, full-lace and monofilament wigs, and men’s hair systems where applicable, are partner-sourced finished products. These partner-sourced products must remain separate from in-house manufacturing claims. Their specifications and availability are confirmed through the relevant sourcing record rather than through the bulk-hair production programme.

Bulk, raw, virgin, Remy and processed: the differences

Bulk human hair means loose hair without a finished attachment system. Raw hair is sometimes used in trade speech to mean minimally handled donor hair; on HairExtensionsTR it is a processing-history description, not an automatic top grade. Virgin hair means no previous dye, bleach, highlights, balayage, perm or other chemical colour or texture processing under the approved site definition. Remy describes direction and cuticle alignment; it does not independently prove virgin status, Ratio, Draw Class or overall quality. Processed hair is human hair deliberately altered for colour, lightness, tone or texture; it is not synthetic and is not automatically poor quality.

Stacked marketing phrases should be split into one term per column with evidence per field. Remy does not substitute for processing-history disclosure.

Why origin alone does not define quality

HairExtensionsTR may state that approved bulk sourcing includes hair from Türkiye/Anatolia and Uzbekistan. That statement names sourcing geography where it applies to a confirmed batch or order; it does not mean every bundle uses hair from both regions, and it does not name individual suppliers. Availability and origin documentation must be confirmed for the relevant batch or order.

Origin is not a quality grade. It does not independently prove Virgin status, Remy alignment, Ratio, Draw Class, durability or overall quality. Professional buyers should assess net weight, length distribution, Ratio, cuticle condition and disclosed processing separately from the country name. Where origin documentation is required, it should be connected to the relevant batch or order. A generic certificate that cannot be linked to the supplied hair is not batch-level evidence.

Processing-history disclosure

State whether hair is virgin under the approved definition or previously coloured, bleached, toned, permed or mechanically texturised. Prior highlight or balayage work changes later blonding and steam behaviour even when the bundle looks uniform. Write processing history as a yes/no matrix; see Virgin Hair Versus Processed Hair for definitions, then mirror plain answers on the order.

Cuticle condition and directional alignment

Remy-oriented bulk should have roots aligned before manufacturing. Inspect direction at root and tip, not from a closed bundle photograph. Cuticle condition is not expressed as public percentages here; note slip root-to-tip and disclose harsh prior processing. Proprietary bath formulas and laboratory retention claims are not published on this page.

Length measurement

Length must be defined by measurement method: from secured root tie to longest end, straightened or in natural fall, with stretch allowance stated or forbidden. Two suppliers can use different measurement methods for the same stated length, so the method must be written into the specification. Put the method on the order and match it on the incoming inspection ruler.

Bulk human hair may be supplied up to approximately 70 cm, subject to current availability, fibre suitability and written order confirmation. Preparation, alignment and finishing can reduce the usable finished length. Where applicable, a supplied length of up to approximately 70 cm may result in a finished sewn-product length of approximately 65 cm. Neither figure is a universal guarantee across every colour, Draw Class or construction.

#1B full length.

When length approaches the available production limit, sample approval should be completed before volume colour or weft production.

Length interacts with Ratio and Draw Class. A Double Drawn specification at 50 cm may not produce the same tip-density balance at 70 cm. The longer specification still needs to meet the agreed net weight, Ratio and Draw Class.

Net hair weight

Net hair weight is the mass of hair fibre agreed for purchase, usually stated in grams or kilograms per bundle or per line item. It excludes packaging, tags, moisture trapped in ties unless explicitly included, and non-hair filler. Wholesale disputes often trace to net versus gross confusion rather than to colour mismatch.

Finished goods use the same discipline: crochet packs are compared by complete-unit weight and piece count; tape orders name panel net weight and width. Bulk orders should mirror that clarity at bundle level with a calibrated scale record on receipt.

Why gross bundle weight can mislead

Gross weight includes ties, bands, labels, moisture and sometimes sand or conditioning residue on non-reputable lots. A heavy bundle on a warehouse scale is not automatically a generous net hair weight. Professional receiving checks re-weigh after standardised drying and tie removal when policy allows.

Photographs of large bundles are marketing, not measurement. Insist on net weight written on the invoice and spot-check with the same scale class used at dispatch. Document tare weight of ties if bundles arrive double-wrapped.

Ratio inside 100 grams

Ratio describes how a fixed net weight — commonly 100 g — is distributed across length bands inside the bundle. A higher Ratio toward longer lengths means more of the gram budget sits in longer hair; a lower Ratio may concentrate weight at shorter lengths useful for certain weft rows or tip jobs. Ratio is not Draw Class; both must appear on serious orders.

Illustrative Ratio bands inside 100 g net hair weight. Actual band definitions belong on the written order.
Text equivalent: a single bar representing 100 grams divided into four length bands from shorter hair through mid lengths, long lengths and tips, showing that net weight is allocated across bands rather than assumed to be one uniform length.

Ask suppliers to map Ratio bands to centimetres or inches on the specification. Without bands, two “100 g / 60 cm” quotes can feel different on the salon floor because tip hair volume differs.

Single Drawn, Double Drawn and Super Double Drawn

Draw Class names how much shorter hair remains mixed toward the tips after drawing passes. Single Drawn retains more natural taper; Double Drawn and Super Double Drawn remove more short hair so tips look fuller relative to the declared length. Draw Class changes appearance and yield; it is not a moral ranking of “better” hair.

Schematic tip fullness by Draw Class — not a literal bundle photograph.
Text equivalent: three columns labelled Single Drawn, Double Drawn and Super Double Drawn show increasing tip alignment fullness from left to right using schematic hair lines.

Regular/Single Drawn, Double Drawn and Super Double Drawn describe different length-distribution specifications. Double Drawn and Super Double Drawn are not available in every colour family or length; availability must be confirmed for the selected colour, length, weight and processing brief. Draw Class and texture should be approved together because the amount of shorter hair and the density at the ends affect how the finished wave or curl appears.

Root, mid-length and end density

Density language fails when it mixes root bulk, mid-shaft volume and tip finish. Root density affects how a weft sits in a braid; tip density affects whether a Double Drawn specification looks believable at the declared length. Photographs taken only at the tip hide short hair near the tie; photographs only at the root hide tip taper.

Inspection samples should be combed through in sections and compared under daylight and salon lighting. Note whether density variation is natural taper, Draw Class outcome or accidental mixing of two lots. Mixing lots without disclosure is a specification breach even when average length matches.

Natural dark and brunette colour families

Dark natural shades are frequently requested for extension production, but colour appearance and processing history must still be recorded separately. Specify level, tone and whether the bundle is virgin, previously coloured or factory-toned to a numbered swatch in the 141-colour professional system. Natural dark does not mean “never processed”; it means the target appearance sits in deep brown to black families with disclosed history.

Brunette work often requests neutral, gold or ash families. If a warm processing history is not disclosed, an ash-brunette result may shift away from the approved swatch. Previous colour or chemical processing should therefore be stated before colour work begins. Match swatches under two light sources before locking a bulk dye route.

HairExtensionsTR works with a professional 141-colour system. The colour system provides a structured reference for matching and custom production. Bulk-hair availability must still be confirmed by shade, weight, length, processing history and intended construction — not every one of the 141 shades is permanently available as bulk human hair.

Intermediate colour families

Intermediate levels need zone maps for ombré, balayage-style and rooted work. State whether tone is pre-blended or achieved during factory processing. Reference 141 Colours with exact codes or approved swatches; sample new recipes before volume.

Blonde and light colour families

Light blondes depend on starting bulk and disclosed bleach history. Name level and tone in the 141-colour system; staged samples precede volume lifting. Maximum lift requires written production confirmation.

Copper, ginger, auburn and custom colour requirements

Copper, ginger and auburn families need explicit target hue, vibrancy and fade acceptance because red-family dyes shift under washing and UV. Custom dimensional work — highlights, balayage, ombré, rooted effects — belongs on a placement map with gram or percentage zones when factory feasible.

Custom colour is made to order; availability depends on format, length, texture and current production confirmation. Bring physical swatches or approved digital codes; screen variance is not a specification.

Keratin bond colour for attachment contrast is separate from bulk hair colour; method guides cover bond families. Bulk colour work must still stand alone on inspection before tipping or weft sewing.

Straight, wave and curl specifications

Approved public texture scope includes straight, wave and steam-processed curl where currently feasible. Name pattern and origin of that pattern on the order: straight bulk may have a naturally straight or processed-straight presentation; wave may be naturally occurring or created through processing; where a curled bulk specification is approved, the texture is disclosed as steam-processed or otherwise factory-set, with honest disclosure — not permanent naturally curly bulk stock.

Use reference rods or comparison charts where available; adjectives like “body wave” vary by supplier. When texture is custom, attach an approved sample lock with washing instructions used at approval time.

Naturally occurring texture versus processed or steam texture

Donor texture and factory-set texture behave differently in humidity, heat styling and colour uptake. Steam-processed curl can produce consistent wholesale curl when chemistry and timing are controlled, but it must be disclosed as processed texture, not sold as “natural curl” without qualification.

Honest disclosure includes reset after wash: if curl relaxes, the order should say so. HairExtensionsTR does not publish proprietary steam parameters on this page.

Sorting and preparation before manufacturing

Sorting removes non-hair debris, separates gross length mismatches and aligns roots before drawing or dye. Preparation may include washing, conditioning and light normalisation steps appropriate to the planned route — without claiming a universal “sanitisation standard” on this page.

High-level manufacturing flow from loose bulk to finished construction — detail varies by method.
Text equivalent: bulk hair moves through sorting, preparation and construction stages before becoming a finished extension product.

HairExtensionsTR does not offer customer-supplied bulk hair as a general commercial processing service on this pillar. The Human Hair Processing & Colour Laboratory Private Masterclass may separately allow a participant to bring approximately 2–5 kg of hair for supervised educational work under Academy terms only; that arrangement must not be read as routine send-in production. Rejections on factory-prepared bulk should cite measurable failures, not vague “quality” language.

Using bulk hair for Machine Weft

Machine Weft is manufactured by Sach & Vogue using sewn top-edge construction. Bulk input must match declared Draw Class, Ratio and colour before hair enters the machine path. Ordinary Machine Weft, Genius Weft and Butterfly architectures are distinct families on the order — see Machine Weft Hair.

Hand-tied weft is not offered. Requests for hand-tied as a catalogue substitute should be redirected to machine weft families or declined. Edge sealing and row density expectations belong on the method specification, not on bulk alone.

Genius Weft is an approved machine-weft family manufactured by Sach & Vogue Hair. Required bulk-hair preparation, weft architecture and finished SKU specification must be confirmed in writing; not every bulk specification can automatically become every Genius Weft SKU.

Using bulk hair for Mesh and PU Butterfly Weft

Mesh Butterfly Weft uses a textile tulle or mesh panel architecture. PU Butterfly Weft uses a pre-punched polyurethane panel architecture. The two are not interchangeable material definitions; “butterfly” alone is an incomplete specification. Bulk preparation must suit panel width plans and hair direction through the panel.

State Mesh or PU on the purchase order and on incoming inspection checklists. Bulk colour and Draw Class still apply before hair is ventilated or sewn through panels.

Using bulk hair for Tape-In

Tape-In panels manufactured on HairExtensionsTR use approved widths including approximately 4 cm, 3 cm and 2 cm families. Bulk hair for tape must support panel net weight targets and adhesive lay-down without edge fray. Draw Class affects how thin panel ends appear after cutting.

Specify panel width, net hair weight per panel and pack architecture on the order. Compare method guidance on Tape-In Hair Extensions when translating bulk into finished tape SKUs.

Using bulk hair for keratin tips and Micro Capsule

Keratin tip extensions use approved tip shapes including Flat, U, V and I formats under factory confirmation. Standard keratin strand weights may use approximately 0.8–1.0 g per strand where applicable. Micro Capsule uses approximately 0.5–0.6 g, with approximately 0.6 g as a public working reference. Nanofilament is approximately 0.3 g micro keratin and is not a Nano Ring product.

Bulk hair for tipping needs consistent diameter suitable for the chosen bond weight; oversized bonds on fine hair are a placement problem, not proof of generosity. Bond colours include clear, beige, brown and black; copper, ginger and red-family bonds where production is confirmed.

Read Keratin Bond Extensions and Micro Capsule Extensions for method-level fields that bulk must feed.

Using bulk hair for Clip-In, U-Part and ponytail products

Clip-In sets may use one-, three-, five- or seven-piece configurations manufactured to order. Bulk must support weft rows, clip placement and total set weight agreed per piece count. U-Clip and U-Part constructions manufactured in Türkiye need cap or track dimensions on the order, not only colour and length.

Ponytail extensions require attachment type, fall length and weight distribution. Bulk Ratio affects whether the ponytail tip looks thin at the declared length. See Clip-In Hair Extensions for set-level thinking.

Using bulk hair for wigs and women’s toppers

Machine-made wigs and women’s toppers may be manufactured by Sach & Vogue when production is confirmed in writing. Bulk for those pieces must map to cap construction, density targets and ventilation plan. Front-lace, full-lace and monofilament wigs, and men’s hair systems where applicable, are partner-sourced finished goods and must not be described as in-house manufactured.

Using bulk hair for Crochet Human Hair

Crochet Human Hair is sold as complete pre-separated units, not as arbitrary bulk torn at installation. Manufacturing uses an approximately 1.20 g complete-unit reference (two portions of approximately 0.60 g around a central connection). Fifty units contain approximately 60 g net hair; one hundred units approximately 120 g at that reference.

Bulk prepared for crochet must therefore be planned for unitisation, connection material and texture disclosure before units are packed. Compare piece count and net hair weight together using Crochet Human Hair; do not compare crochet offers by piece count alone.

Sample approval before volume production

Sample approval locks colour, texture, Draw Class appearance and measurable weight before bulk dye or construction runs. Store approved samples with batch codes and approval date. Volume production that drifts from an approved sample without written amendment is a manufacturing change, not a minor tolerance.

Sample approval gates volume work — skipped samples invite reorder disputes.
Text equivalent: an approved sample leads to a written specification, then volume production; production should not run without approval and a locked specification.

Reorders should cite the prior approval code; a fibre-source or processing-route change requires a new sample event.

Buyer inspection framework

On receipt, verify net hair weight, the agreed length-measurement method, root alignment, colour against the approved sample and the appearance of the stated Draw Class. Use the agreed sampling method to compare the length-band distribution with the written Ratio specification. Record the tare method and isolate any batch that fails a measurable field rather than relying only on subjective feel.

Written wholesale specification

A defensible wholesale specification lists fibre identity, processing history, colour codes or swatches, length and measurement method, net hair weight, Ratio bands inside 100 g, Draw Class, texture and texture origin, intended construction, sample approval reference, batch traceability fields and contact for reorder. It excludes unpublished MOQ, price and lead time — those stay in private quotes.

Custom processing and colour development in Türkiye

Sach & Vogue Hair operates production in Türkiye for approved extension formats and selected hair products. Some bulk specifications may be available from current stock; others require sorting, colour preparation or made-to-order production. Current status is confirmed at enquiry and quotation stage — permanent inventory is not claimed on this page.

Custom colour development uses the 141-colour professional reference system together with physical swatches. The system structures matching and custom work; bulk availability by shade still requires confirmation. Custom texture, including steam-processed curl with honest disclosure, is scoped per written order.

Minimum quantities, sample structure and production conditions are confirmed in the written quotation. This page does not publish bulk-hair MOQ, prices or lead times. Private-label packaging and repeat-production conditions require separate written confirmation; a private-label programme cannot begin without an approved sample and specification.

Storage, handling and traceability

Store bulk in a clean, dry space with batch labels intact from receipt through manufacturing. Traceability supports reorders against approved specifications without publishing internal lot numbers on the public site.

Common buying mistakes

  • Treating “Remy bulk virgin” as one field instead of four separate columns.
  • Comparing gross bundle photographs instead of net weight on a scale.
  • Ordering Double Drawn appearance without paying for draw yield or naming Draw Class.
  • Assuming natural curl stock exists because curl appears in a catalogue image.
  • Blurring Mesh Butterfly and PU Butterfly into one material definition.
  • Requesting hand-tied weft when machine weft families are the manufactured offer.
  • Skipping sample approval on custom blonde or copper routes.
  • Using origin country as a substitute for processing-history disclosure.
  • Assuming partner-sourced lace wigs share the same bulk pathway as machine-made wigs.

Corrective action is to rewrite the order as measurable fields and align the quotation before production.

Frequently asked questions

Is bulk human hair the same as raw or virgin hair?
No. Bulk describes the supply form. Raw and Virgin describe processing history and must be checked separately.
Does Remy guarantee virgin bulk?
No. Remy describes directional and cuticle alignment. Virgin status is a separate question about the hair’s processing history.
How should 100 g quotes be compared?
Compare net hair weight using the same weighing method, then check the stated length method, Ratio bands and Draw Class.
Can bulk hair feed any extension method?
Not automatically. The intended construction must be stated in the order, and the suitability of the bulk specification must be confirmed for that construction.
Are Mesh and PU Butterfly Weft the same?
No. Mesh Butterfly Weft uses a textile mesh panel, while PU Butterfly Weft uses a pre-punched polyurethane panel.
Is hand-tied weft available from HairExtensionsTR?
No. Hand-tied weft is not offered. Available weft families include Machine Weft and currently confirmed Butterfly or Genius Weft specifications.
What keratin weights apply when bulk becomes tips?
Working references are approximately 0.8–1.0 g for standard keratin, approximately 0.5–0.6 g for Micro Capsule and approximately 0.3 g for Nanofilament. Nanofilament is a micro-keratin format, not a Nano Ring product.
How does bulk relate to Crochet Human Hair units?
The working reference is approximately 1.20 g per completed unit. At that reference, 50 units are approximately 60 g and 100 units approximately 120 g of net hair.
Are natural curls held as standing bulk stock?
No standing naturally curly bulk stock is claimed. The available texture and any steam-processing work are confirmed in writing.
What should I send with a wholesale enquiry?
Send the intended construction, processing history, colour reference, length method, net weight, Ratio, Draw Class, texture requirement and any approved sample code.
